They couldn’t
believe it, one second they had been laughing, happy what they had achieved
just minutes before and the next their friend was on the floor bleeding to
death. Too sure about their situation, too blind with pride to look for safety.
The group knew now, they had been stupid to believe that only because they took
out one part of the cell, that they wouldn’t come after them for revenge and
more blood. They needed to pull Dek into the shadows.
“Fast, don’t
let them get another shot!” Ruby shouted, she had been the first to get back
into reality. She grabbed their weapons and jumped behind a boulder. “Hurry!”
She was right, another shot was lethal, they needed cover and they needed to be able to defend themselves. Ruby was always fast to think up something in dangerous moments and this was even more than that. A mistake was deadly.

Novis was already trying to get a look at the wound. Clear shot through, she noted and took out her knive to cut the cloth around the wound, it was a bloody mess and she didn’t know if there were strays yet. She looked up at her friends, Ruby was trying to get a look at the attackers. She was brave, she couldn’t let her emotions get in the way and make it more dangerous. Riley was still in shock, nevertheless, she was talking to Dek when she was shot, it happened all too fast. She also pulled her friend behind the stones. ‘Riley, I will take care of her, go and help Ruby. Now!’ Novis yelled the last bit to make sure that every doubt of faults from her friends mind. She hoped her voice sounded steady and reassuring, because she wasn’t sure if she was able to help her friend yet. She hoped so badly that she could, she looked down at Dek, her face covered in sweat and dirt. It seemed like she passed out the moment the bullet shot through her. Her faces showed pain, awful pain.
“Dek, come
on, don’t do this to us.” Novis whispered and ripped the shirt off of her
friends body, taking in a sharp breath when she saw the wound. “Eh .. this isn’t
good.”
“Don’t say that Nov, I don’t ever want to hear you say something isn’t good.”
“Sorry Riley, but … we need to get her out of her now, I can’t operate on her here.” Novis looked at her friends, both had their eyes wide in shock, in disbelieve. There was no way they could get out of there now, they were in the middle of a crossfire and it seemed like they were closing in.

They noticed the little movement. Dek was trying to sit up, only she fell back. Novis wacked her over the head. "Idiot!"
"Thanks.." Dek whispered in a weak voice. "Give me my weapon." she said and they all shook their head. "I can't hold them back with my hands you know.' -test no 1.
